8 January 2017 – Thousands including former and current students, teachers, parents and friends of St. Teresa School, Kuching gathered at the old State Legislative Assembly (DUN) complex last Sunday to take part in the 3km and 8km Save St Teresa Run. The run was organised to raise funds for the rebuilding of St. Teresa’s School hall that was engulfed in a fire on 29 October last year. The fire completely destroyed the 2-storey wooden structure of the 131-year old school.
The run was flagged off by YB Datuk Hajah Fatimah Abdullah, Minister of Welfare, Women and Community Wellbeing, who joined participants in the 3km category. Other activities lined up on that day were kinesiology taping, Zumba exercise, photo-booth, health screening and lucky draws. Proceeds from the sale of souvenir mugs and wristbands will also go towards the school hall’s rebuilding fund.
