Kuching (Sarawak), Thursday, 5 July 2018 – Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad (CMS) today co-organised a one-day seminar titled “Cold In-Place Pavement Recycling (CIPR) Technology” with Wirtgen Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Lebuhraya Borneo Utara to understand the challenges faced and good practices that serves as a factor of consideration for the pre-implementation stage of the CIPR concept. This is so road construction can achieve the highest quality and performance standard for the management and maintenance of Federal and State roads in Sarawak.
The seminar offered an open and collaborative platform to share, discuss and determine firm strategies to enhance the State’s road management and maintenance approach. It also presented an improved solution to the construction process and quality of roads. CIPR Technology uses Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) method which prevails in Malaysian road maintenance with large scale application in most of the Federal and State Road maintenance projects. This technology has been proven to perform with many success track records over 1,000km State-wide. The innovative CIPR Solutions can be implemented via in-place methods with many options of binding additives such as OPC, lime and bitumen.
Speakers at the seminar comprised Ir. Pok Sum Loong, Managing Director of Wirtgen and Professor Kim Jenkins. Delia Hoan, Project Engineer with CMS Pavement Tech Sdn Bhd presented a topic on “Local Experience in the Construction of CIPR” while Chang Chee Khiong, Senior Engineering Executive with CMS Roads Sdn Bhd presented a topic on “Performance of CIPR in Sarawak”.
