CMS Cement, Clinker & Concrete combine forces for CMS’ First “Charity Sale of Work” in 2009

Wednesday 29 April 2009, Kuching - Volunteers from CMS’ cement-based operations kicked off the Group’s first “charity sale-of-work” for 2009 in aid of the Sarawak Society for the Blind (SSB) Charity Sale on Sunday, 26 April 2009.

Employees from CMS Cement, CMS Clinker and CMS Concrete Products decided to work together to “Do Good” for the Community, and the results were well certainly worth the combined effort when their cash register rang up total proceeds of RM1,758.00 at the end of the day.

The synergy created by the three companies’ efforts meant more products to sell, more sponsors, more salespeople, and of course more funds raised for SSB!

While the main priority was to raise money for the SSB, the employee volunteers also managed to spread awareness of CMS Cement products at the same time.

“With every sale of kueh, nasi lemak, lemang, chicken wings, curry or cakes, we also gave away a Cemplast brochure to spread product awareness,” said Ngatimah Danan, of CMS Cement’s Quality Assurance department.

The Sarawak Society for the Blind, located on Jalan Ong Tiang Swee in Kuching, provides support and resources for the blind community to gain their independence. Facilities include a training centre to help blind individuals obtain certification in massage therapy. SSB holds its Charity Sale every year with the support of individuals and organisations from the general public.
