Doing their bit for the environment at Pasir Pandak Beach

22 September 2018 – It dawned brightly that day, promising clear skies ahead. It was a perfect day for 15 CMS employees from Group Procurement to clean up the beach and set up new rubbish bins at Pasir Pandak, Santubong. They drove some 30 minutes from Kuching City before reaching the scenic beach of Pasir Pandak.

Upon arrival, the site officer on-duty briefed them about the place and its condition before work started. They split into smaller groups to build two bins for recyclable waste and two frames to hold plastic for disposable trash. The thrill of successfully creating something functional from scratch were truly visible in their faces. With these ‘inventions’ in hand, they headed off armed with gloves, rubbish pickers and plastic bags to remove trash along the stretch of beach.

Picking up other people’s trash is not fun at all but the team spirit among these diverse yet collectively determined individuals had one common goal – the desire to have a clean environment for everyone to enjoy. A clean environment is essential for healthy living, so think before you callously throw rubbish out of your car window!
