- 5 January – CMS Trust Management Berhad declared income distributions for the CMS Premier Fund, CMS Balanced Fund, CMS Islamic Fund and CMS Islamic Balanced Fund for the financial year ended 31 December 2009. Based on the units’ Net Asset Value (NAV) prior to the distribution, the gross yield for investors was 12.03% for CMS Premier Fund, 11.87% for CMS Balanced Fund, 11.69% for CMS Islamic Fund and 11.89% for CMS Islamic Balanced Fund.
- 8 January – CMS announced receipt of an offer from PetroSaudi International Ltd to acquire all Ordinary shares held by CMS subsidiaries, Concordance Holdings Sdn Bhd and PPES Works (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd, in UBG Berhad for the sum of RM465.5 million.
- 11 January – CMS informed UBG Berhad of its intention to accept offers from PetroSaudi International Ltd to acquire its stake held through Concordance Holdings and PPES Works.
- 12 January – CMS Clinker donated 4 units of used and still in good working order computers to Pusat Pemulihan dalam Komuniti Mambong as a CMS ‘Doing Good’ activity. On the same day, copies of the SALCO Calendar 2010 consisting artwork by students of SK Kampung Nyalau and SK Kuala Nyalau were distributed to the village schools at Nyalau, 70 km from Bintulu.
- 15 January – The Committee of Sarawak Housing & Real Estate Developers Association (SHEDA) held a dialogue with CMS on issues related to the local construction industry.
- 19 January – Sarawak Chief Minister, YAB Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud, attended the ground-breaking ceremony of construction works at the Batang Strap bridge at Pantu town in Sri Aman Division. Construction of the bridge by PPES Works began in November 2009 and is targeted for completion by February 2011.
- 23 January – CMS Clinker held its first of many blood donation drives for the year 2010.
- 24 February – CMS Group reported a Profit Before Tax (PBT) of RM124.29 million for the twelve months ended 31 December 2009, an increase of 10% from the previous year’s results in the corresponding period. A first and final dividend of 5 sen per share less 25% income tax was proposed, subject to shareholders’ approval at the forthcoming AGM.
- 2 March – The Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) developed by CMS was officially opened by the Prime Minister of Malaysia after construction was completed on time in September 2009.
- 12 March – Rating Agency Malaysia (RAM) announced reaffirmation of its A2 rating on CMS’ RM399.6 million serial bonds and Conditional Payment Obligations.
- 16 March – CMS Deputy Chairman, Dato Sri Mahmud Abu Bekir Taib, assessed the construction progress of Demak Food Court in which CMS Property Development assisted with project management. Demak Food Court was eventually re-named Medan Hamidah, and is a ‘wakaf’ project personally donated by Dato Sri Mahmud and his sister, Jamilah Taib-Murray.
- 27 March – CMS Clinker ‘Does Good’ by cleaning up at children’s home in Kuching.
- 29 March – SALCO put up an exhibition on its planned aluminium smelter at Samalaju during the 3rd International Conference on Water Resources and Renewable Energy Development in Asia event held at the BCCK.
- 1 April – CMS Group Managing Director, Dato’ Richard Curtis, led a team from Property SBU on a learning visit to Sime Darby Property to see new developments at Bukit Jelutong, Ara Damansara and Seri Pilmoor in the Klang Valley.
- 6 April – CMS Cement staff organized a blood donation drive in Kuching in which 28 employees participated.
- 9 April – Kenanga Investment Bank Berhad acquired 100% equity interest CMS Trust Management Berhad for total sum of RM23 million cash. CMS Trust Management ceased to be a subsidiary of CMS.
- 10 April – 21 CMS employee volunteers helped Habitat-for-Humanity build a home for the family of Colvow anak Biod at Kampung Tabuan Rabak, Jalan Mambong-Sarig, Kuching.
- 14 April – CMS announced the proposal to implement an Employees’ Share Option Scheme (ESOS) of up to 10% of the issued and paid-up capital of CMS Berhad for eligible Executive Directors and employees of the Company and/or eligible subsidiaries.
- 11 April – 17 employee volunteers from CMS Cement (Bintulu) led by Plant Manager, Ir. Yeo Joon Chiew, helped construct a badminton court for a 42-door Iban longhouse along Bintulu-Miri Road.
- 16 April – CMS Opus Private Equity held its annual Investors Conference in Kuantan, Pahang, as a platform for investors of its COPE-KPF Opportunities Fund 1 to meet with investee companies.
- 18 April – 20 employee volunteers from CMS Cement raised RM1,126 in just one hour at the first ever Sarawak Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) Charity Food Fair held in Kuching.
- 24 April – CMS donates RM50,000 to the Orphan Orthodontic Project. CMS’ corporate sponsorship was presented to the Chief Minister of Sarawak during the launch of the ‘Laila Taib Smile of Hope’ orphan project.
- 25 April – CMS employee volunteers participated in two separate fund-raising events which collectively raised RM5,600 for the Sarawak Society for the Blind.
- 30 April – Shareholders of CMS Berhad gave their approval for the disposal of UBG Berhad shares to PetroSaudi International Ltd.
- 1 May – 21 CMS employee volunteers from CMS Cement ‘Do Good’ alongside residents of Kampung Senibong Merah to build the floor section of the SIB Immanuel Chapel in Bintulu.
- 2 May – Employees of CMS Infra Trading and CMS Group Human Resources raised RM2,331 at PERKATA’s (Sarawak Welfare Association for Intellectually Disabled Children) open day sale in Kuching.
- 6 May – The first session of ‘Koffee Talk’ for the year was held where 21 non-executives from CMS Cement and CMS Concrete Products gathered to enjoy a hearty breakfast with the Group Managing Director.
- 7 May – CMS Property Development, CMS Cement, CMS Concrete Products and CMS Infra Trading took part in an exhibition at SARBEX 2010, Sarawak’s No.1 property and home exhibition, held at BCCK from 7-9 May.
- 10 May – CMS, Naim Holdings Berhad and Sarawak State Government agency, Bintulu Development Authority (BDA), signed an MoU to propose a masterplan development for Samalaju new township.
- 12 May – 22 non-executives had their turn for a heart-to-heart with CMS Group Managing Director at a ‘Koffee Talk’ Session. Also on the same day, CMS Cement (Bintulu) staff collaborated with Bintulu Hospital to organize a blood donation.
- 16 May – PPES Works’ Head of Federal Road Maintenance, Lai Hen Kim, goes bald to raise RM2,050 in just one week to contribute much needed funds for the Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society.
- 20 May – The first Employee Wellness Programme was held on 20-21 May 2010 with participants from CMS Cement, CMS Concrete Products and CMS Clinker. Participants learned practical information on personal responsibilities towards wellness and how to maintain a healthy environment at the work place.
- 24 May – CMS welcomed a visit by an 11 member trade delegation from Australia led by Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner, Paul Martins. The group included representatives from Worley Parsons, Leighton, GHD and Rio Tinto Alcan.
- 26 May – A Development Agreement was signed and sealed between Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) and CMS Land for the new SEB headquarters at The Isthmus.
- 27 May – CMS Berhad shareholders attended the Group’s 35th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Kuching. All resolutions were passed. The meeting was followed by an EGM in which shareholders approved the ESOS proposal.
- 23 June – CMS Agrotech and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to undertake research to improve composting technology for the production of value-added compost or bio-fertilisers used in the palm oil industry and others.
- 27 June – 34 employee volunteers participated in an evening run of between 3-7 km along the streets of Kuching city to raise RM3,000 for the Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society.
- 28 June – Group Corporate Communications and SALCO raised RM2,383 at Kuching Autistic Association’s sale of work event.

- 28 July – CMS Cement held a face-to-face dialogue with SHEDA to address concerns on the continuous and adequate supply of cement in the Kuching area.
- 2 August – CMS Board of Directors attended a special session in Kuching to discuss corporate strategy.
- 3-5 August – CMS’ management team of 60 headed to Lundu for their annual Retreat session.
- 8 August – 70 CMS employee volunteers raised RM13,297.80 for Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society at a sale-of-work held in Kuching.
- 13 August – PPES Works secured a RM101.3 million contract for the construction of an access road to the future Baram Dam in the Miri division. The 37.5 km Beluru-Lapok road is expected to be completed in thirty-six months by 2013.
- 24 August – Major disruption occurred in construction works to lay a 1.2 km submarine pipeline across Batang Sadong to transfer piped water from the Sarawak mainland to Pulau Bruit. Days of rain in the Sibu and upstream Rajang River areas resulted in floods and a strong river current which led to the floating of the entire sub-merged pipeline to river’s surface, delaying the project’s delivery and completion.
- 26 August – PPES Works ‘Do Good’ by donating a new public address (PA) system to Masjid Al-Amin, Kampung Semop, Pulau Bruit.
- 29 August – 13 employee volunteers from Centre Management helped CMS colleague, Hajijah Sunus, repair her house before Hari Raya Aidil Fitri.
- 30 August – CMS Group reported a PBT of RM37.97 million for the six months ended 30 June 2010, a 25% increase over the PBT for the six months ended 30 June 2009.
- 2 September – CMS disposes off its entire equity interest in CMS Asset Management Sdn Bhd.
- Early September – CMS Property Development acquired 3.19 hectares of river frontage land at Jalan Kwong Lee Bank, Kuching, from Zecon Berhad group for RM22 million.
- 13 September – CMS Berhad moved to increase its stake in the premix sector by acquiring a further 40% equity interest in CMS Premix from Mintaro for RM10.5 million and another 20% equity interest in CMS Premix (Miri) also from Mintaro for RM1.5 million.
- 21 September – CMS’ submission of the BCCK project for MIPIM Asia Awards 2010 was selected as a finalist in the Business Centres category.
- 21-22 September – CMS participated in Curtin University Miri’s career fair.
- September – Tunku Putra School congratulated its students who sat for the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations in June 2010 for achieving a pass rate of 93% in the provisional examination results.
- 30 September – The disposal exercise of CMS’ entire equity stake in UBG Berhad was completed, generating an immediate return in cash of RM465.53 million.
- 9 October – 14 employee volunteers from CMS Infra Trading participated in their first home build project at Kampung Mambong-Sarig on the outskirts of Kuching. The house of general worker, Jobly anak Sindow, was earlier built by employee volunteers from CMS Centre Management and CMS Clinker.
- 2 November – CMS Group welcomed the first batch of graduates under a year-long pilot CMS Management Trainee Development Programme (MTDP). Eleven graduates joined in November; another 3 joined in the coming weeks.
- 6 November – The CMS Health Run 2010 event saw nearly 300 employees ‘Do Good’ for their health by taking part in a 6 km run around Tunku Putra School.
- 11 November – CMS announced that the BCCK had won the Best Business Centre recognition at the MIPIM Asia Award 2010 presented in Hong Kong. CMS submitted its project, the BCCK, for judging by the 1,727 delegates who attended MIPIM Asia, the leading business-to-business real estate market and conference in Asia Pacific.
- 12 November – CMS Group posted a PBT of RM30.6 million in the third quarter of 2010. PBT for the first 9 months of 2010 ended 30 September 2010 stood at RM68.6 million, compared to RM65.3 million for the corresponding period in the previous year.
- 12 November – CMS’ Annual Report 2009 was named Runner-up in the Sarawak Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s (SCCI) Overall Excellence Award for corporate reports. The win adds to CMS’ record of continuously being recognized for its highest corporate governance and reporting standards.
- 12 November - Tunku Putra School highlights its 97% pass rate achieved by students in the 2010 Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) national stream examinations.
- 29 November – The annual CMS Town Hall road show began in Kuching with addresses by the Group Managing Director and Group Executive Director on the performance of 2010 and plans for 2011.
- 1 December - CMS Land entered into a joint venture with Premier Cottage Sdn Bhd, Boulevard Jaya Corporation Sdn Bhd, Hikmat Majusama Sdn Bhd and Isthmus Developments Sdn Bhd to build, own and manage a four-star hotel and service apartments at The Isthmus in Kuching.
- 3 December - 28 employee volunteers from PPES Works participated in a ‘gotong- royong’ to lay a gravity-feed water supply pipe mainline from Kampung Serayan to Kampung Keranji over a distance of 24 km along Kuching-Lundu-Sematan Road.
- 17 December - Samalaju Industries (formerly known as Similajau Industries) signed a JV agreement with Naim Cendera and Bintulu Development Authority to undertake development of the new Samalaju Township and other properties at Samalaju. Samalaju Industries will have 51%, Naim 39% and BDA 10% equity interest in the JV. Work on site began immediately on construction of a temporary workers’ camp for the first industry to be sited at Samalaju Industrial Park - Tokuyama Corporation of Japan is expected to move in around February 2011.
- 20 December - CMS I-Systems Berhad disposes off its entire equity interest in I-Systems Network Sdn Bhd.
- 28 December - For the third consecutive year, Tunku Putra School students bagged a 100% pass in the Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) examination. The 100% pass rate also puts Tunku Putra as one of only 6 schools in Sarawak to achieve this result.
- 28 December – CMS Cement refuted claims made in the media by the Sibu-based Sarawak Building and Civil Engineering Contractors Association that there is a current shortage of cement in the local market.
- 29 December – CMS Berhad redeemed 80 Non-Convertible Redeemable Preference Shares (NCRPS) of the earlier issued RM400 Million CMS Income Securities.
