CMS employees chip in at SCCS Food Fair |
|
Sunday, 18 September 2011, Kuching: Thousands who braved the rainfall to support the Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS) 10th Charity Food Fair recently reflected the benevolent side of the society.
Visitors were seen streaming in as early as 7am to support the annual event. By 8.30AM our CMS charity-doers from the different departments had squeezed their way in the hall where 92 stalls were lined up to sell a variety of items. CMS Doing Team sold their infamous ayam penyet, local kuih, drinks, fruits and not forgetting hot dogs which they had fried there and then…all hot from the kuali! The total funds of RM1,941.50 raised by our team will go to the construction of the Children Cancer Centre which is currently underway at Batu Kawa and is due to be completed in 2012. SCCS’s role includes providing financial aid and emotional support, accommodation for outstation families and treatment facilities as well as public education about childhood cancer.
The guest of honour, Deputy Works Minister Datuk Yong Khoon Seng accompanied by SSCS president Gary Ho handed out certificates of appreciate to al
l stall operators and receiving on behalf of CMS was Danny Sim, Head of Group Procurement. |
