Blood donation truly a ‘gift of life’ |
Friday, 6 July 2012, Kuching: Blood donation is truly a ‘gift of life’ that a healthy individual can contribute to the community particularly to those who are sick or injured.
World Blood Donors’ Day is celebrated throughout the world with a focus on the life-saving gift of voluntary unpaid blood donors. To celebrate this day and as part of its ‘Doing Good’ practices, CMS in collaboration with Sarawak General Hospital held its first ever Blood Donation Drive last Saturday which drew a crowd of 97 people – not bad considering it was our first time! Amongst those who turned up were CMS and K&N Kenanga’s employees, together with their family and friends.
“You are really our heroes and life savers,” CMS Group Managing Director, Dato’ Richard Curtis commended the donors who turned up early last Saturday morning at Wisma Mahmud. He said there was a growing appreciation of the vital role of voluntary unpaid donors.
The theme, ‘Every Drop Counts’ hopes to encourage more CMS employees, families and friends to come forward and donate blood voluntarily and on regular basis. He added that our CMS blood donors have had without expectation of rewards or incentives, been supporting blood banks in Kuching, Sibu and Bintulu.
With the overwhelming response we had at our first CMS Blood Donation Drive, more of such events are being planned in the future.
