  • CMS Trust Management Berhad announced generous income distributions for 4 of its nine funds for the financial year ended 31 December 2008. Equity growth funds, CMS Premier Fund and CMS Islamic Fund, distributing 3.4 sen and 4.4 sen respectively, equivalent to more than 9% yield. Unit-holders of CMS Balanced Fund and CMS Islamic Balanced Fund received income distributions of 3.9 sen and 4.4 sen per unit respectively equivalent to more than 10% yield. (More...)

  • Tunku Putra School's first batch of Tingkatan 3 students sitting for the Malaysian national public examinations, Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) examinations, made the School proud by attaining 100% pass. One student scored As in all 8 subjects taken, while many others scored As in Bahasa Malaysia , Science, English and Mathematics. Approximately 70% of candidates scored A in English. (More...)

  • CMS Cement set an example for corporate responsibility among construction material providers by lowering the price of cement by RM5.00 per metric tonne (MT) immediately after a reducing in its costs. The move was timely given the nationwide call made by the Government and industry associations to reduce costs of construction materials towards helping the Nation handle challenges of the difficult economic climate.   • CMS Group Deputy Chairman, Dato Sri Mahmud Abu Bekir Taib, was honoured by the Sarawak State Government as the sole recipient of the prestigious “Panglima Negara Bintang Sarawak (PNBS)” award in conjunction with the 87 th birthday of the Governor of Sarawak.   • Sarawak Aluminium Company (SALCO) contributed RM10,000 towards a survey of dolphins and porpoises in coastal waters between Tanjung Kidurong (in Bintulu) and Kuala Nyalau, north of Similajau Industrial Park . Data collected will be used in SALCO's feasibility studies. (More...)

  • Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd reclassified Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad from the sector of “Finance” to the “lndustrial Products” sector effective 16 July 2008. The reclassification was due to changes in major business activities for CMS reflecting the major contribution to the Group's financial results made by the construction materials products such as cement and quarrying.   • The Sg. Sebuyau Bridge in Samarahan Division, Sarawak , constructed by PPES Works was officially opened by the Malaysian Prime Minister. The RM6.8 million, 171 metre bridge is part of 923.4km Sarawak Coastal Road which will eventually link all coastal areas from Sematan in the south up to Miri Division in the north. (More...)

  • The Malaysian Department of Environment (DOE) approved the Terms of Reference for the Detailed Environmental Impact Assessment (DEIA) study of the proposed aluminium smelter at Bintulu. The DEIA is a core part of SALCO's feasibility studies and includes air, noise, flora and fauna, land use and social impact studies. (More...)

  • SALCO was a major exhibition at SCORE's state-wide roadshow which began in Bintulu on 11 February and ended in Kuching on 4 May. The exhibition, designed to promote awareness of SCORE amongst the local population, made stops at Bintulu, Miri, Mukah, Sibu and Kuching. SALCO will contribute to the economy through employment opportunities and RM2.4 billion worth of GDP per annum. (More...)

  • CMS and Rio Tinto Alcan signed an MoU with the Sarawak Skills Development Centre (PPKS) to provide Malaysian nationals with industrial training programmes for its proposed aluminium smelter. The SALCO smelter is expected to create up to 1,200 direct jobs and 3,500 indirect jobs. (More...)
