Friday, 7 November 2008, Kuching – Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad’s Annual Report 2007 was named winner of the coveted Overall Excellence Award presented by the Sarawak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI)’s Annual Corporate Report Awards 2008.
Presentation of the award was made at the SCCI’s 57th Anniversary Dinner held in Kuching here this evening. This new win marks the fifth time that CMS has won the top prize for exemplary corporate conduct in the 10 years that SCCI has been running the corporate report awards programme to increase the standard of corporate reporting and presentation amongst Sarawak companies. CMS won the Overall Excellence Award in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2006 and now in 2008. CMS received consolation awards in 2002 and 2003. According to the SCCI, “The Overall Excellence Award is presented for the Annual Report which displays the highest standards of corporate reporting and presentation. It represents the leader and reporting model in the areas of compliance with mandatory disclosures and presentation, as well as offering additional information for shareholders and the general public in wanting to know about the operations and conduct of the company.” This year’s theme for judging the annual corporate awards was “Corporate Unification Towards Excellence”. A total of 33 companies public-listed companies were judged by an independent panel of finance professionals and others, based on various criteria.
