CMS ROADS LEND A HAND TO RURAL SCHOOLS

Friday, 14 September 2007, SARATOK: Employees of CMS Roads in Saratok are continuing to make helping others one of their top priorities, as once again they come to the aid of more rural folk in need.

This time ‘round, the beneficiary was SK Babang, a rural primary school situated on Babang Road. The school needed a 50-foot long, six-foot wide concrete footpath, to connect the school grounds to an existing footpath that runs along the neighbouring Sungai Krain.

After appealing to CMS Roads for help, on 1 September, 2007, a team of 35 crew and staff arrived to answer the school’s call for help.

This was the Saratok Road Maintenance Unit’s second activity to “Do Good” under the CMS Community Outreach programme in two weeks, following a recent road works and painting job done for Kaki Wong community hall, also in Saratok.

Operation Executive Wong Chee Sen said that although staff were happy to put in the labour, the school provided the building materials amounting to 12 bags of cement, 6 tonnes of mixed gravel, and swam timber.

CMS Roads has done some outstanding work for rural communities this year, both in activities undertaken with PPES Works and CMS Pavement Tech, and through their own stand-alone activities.

These include Gotong Royongs for kampungs and community buildings in Limbang, Mukah, Padawan Kuching and Bekenu.
