Running into a new decade

1 January 2020 – A new decade begins with 2020!  New resolutions are made, new goals are set and new opportunities are waiting to be discovered. For runners, resolutions are set to do more runs, more training and greater distances. The incessant rain in Kuching did not hinder them from running or walking especially when the event celebrates the new year! 61 CMS employees joined the masses and showed up at Saradise and MBKS in raincoats and umbrellas with children in tow, to participate in the Happy New Year Run and the New Year Resolution Run respectively. Many went home happy with just their medals in hand, while a few others had more to celebrate by winning the lucky draw prizes.

16 November 2019 – SK Sungai Durin, a primary school in the outskirts of Sibu, reached out to CMS Roads Sdn Bhd (RMU Sibu) for help with some maintenance work to paint its wooden school buildings. The students’ parents and teachers participated in the minor makeover alongside 42 volunteers from the company to cut the overgrown grass around the school compound and paint the administration and washroom buildings. Heavy machinery such as tipper trucks, a mini hydraulic excavator and pedestrian roller were also used by our CMS employees to lay and compact the aggregates to widen and repair the uneven pathway inside the school compound. Gotong-royong at Dewan Kampung Tijirak

26 October 2019 – Many speak highly of volunteerism, and they are right to do so; the value this altruistic activity brings is too rewarding not to be talked about. One of its benefits is the development of a stronger bond with our friends or co-workers which 38 volunteers from CMS Roads Sdn Bhd (RMU Tapah) are able to vouch for after teaming up again with 14 volunteers from the Public Works Department of Serian for a day of gotong-royong at Dewan Kampung Tijirak.

Our CMS volunteers contributed manpower and the heavy equipment needed to lay the 80 tonnes of premix sponsored by the latter for the community hall’s parking area. Through this joint CSR activity, our volunteers were able to cultivate friendships with the volunteers from JKR Serian and strengthen theirs ties with the local community they assisted.
